Benevolent Design Co. on Coast Live

We recently had the opportunity to join the Coast Live team to share more about Benevolent Design Co., our approach to custom furniture and cabinetry, and the purpose behind the work we do every day.

During the segment, we talked about our focus on handcrafted, one of a kind furniture built with intention, patience, and longevity. Every piece that leaves our shop is designed and built in house, using honest materials and traditional woodworking techniques that prioritize durability and timeless design. Our goal has always been to create furniture that feels personal, functional, and built to be lived with for generations.

The conversation also highlighted an important part of who we are beyond the furniture itself. Through our Presence in the Workshop initiative, we support veterans transitioning into civilian life by providing hands on woodworking education, mentorship, and a creative environment rooted in discipline, skill building, and connection. Craftsmanship has the ability to create purpose and community, and this program allows us to use our work as a tool for something larger than ourselves.

We also shared a glimpse into what’s next for Benevolent Design Co., including the upcoming launch of our woodworking education community on Skool. This platform will give members access to detailed, real world woodworking education, ranging from foundational skills to full scale furniture and cabinetry builds, along with insights into shop workflow, problem solving, and the realities of running a professional woodworking practice. The goal is to create a space that supports learning, growth, and connection for makers at every stage.

We are grateful to the Coast Live team for the opportunity to share our story and shine a light on the people, process, and values behind Benevolent Design Co. Moments like this reinforce why we do what we do and the importance of staying rooted in thoughtful design and meaningful work.
